PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To assist the classroom teacher in meeting the academic, physical, and social/emotional needs of special education students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours, required

Paraprofessional Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions; ability to work with emotionally, physically and/or mentally impaired students; ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions; and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Basic computer skills performed.

Experience:

Background in working with special needs children or adults

Days:  187

Hrly Pay Range:

Minimum:   $11.74

Midpoint:    $14.31

Maximum:  $16.68

Note:  Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
