PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide English Learners with supplemental native and/or second language instruction, learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for cognitive, linguistic, affective, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree, required

Texas Teaching Certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned or other permits as approved by state, required

Bilingual Certificate, required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Communicate effectively (verbal and written) in both English and Spanish; utilize effective interpersonal skills; demonstrate knowledge of subjects assigned; exhibit general knowledge of curriculum and instruction; basic computer skills; understanding of Second Language Acquisition; multi-cultural awareness.

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher, required

Experience in a Bilingual/ESL classroom, preferred
