PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The substitute school nurse will be responsible for implementing the school health program in the absence of the permanent school nurse. Will also be responsible for nursing skills and health knowledge in the school environment to promote maximum health and facilitate the learning, social adjustment, and the emotional and physical well-being of the child. Duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional school nurse practice, district/state board of education policies and procedures, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Board of Nursing, law regarding nurse practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Hold current Texas Board of Nurse Examiners State license as a Registered Nurse, required
Graduation from an accredited four-year BSN education program or an Associate Degree in Nursing, required
Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/AED course completion, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Nursing experience, preferably pediatric, adolescent, community/public health and mental health nursing
Proficiency in English and Spanish, preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to implement policies and procedures
Experience:
Employed within the last three (3) years in nursing practice, preferred
Three (3 years of experience in a school health setting, preferred
Workdays: As needed / $200.00 per day |
