PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Reading Coach will work collaboratively with campus teachers and administrators to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive literacy plan including: strategies to ensure achievement of literacy goals at critical transition points (pre K through grade 5th). Reading coach will support the campus Professional Learning Communities and Differentiated Instruction as per grant guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Deep knowledge of research based reading strategies and best teaching practices
Understanding of curriculum, assessments and data analysis to align instruction
Knowledge of writing strategies across the content areas
Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) and State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR)
Provide resources and job embedded professional learning through Professional Learning Communities
Gather and assist in analyzing data and write reports related to the Texas Literacy Initiative Grant components
Create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration among staff to promote professional growth and accelerate the reading achievement of all students
Interpersonal Communication/Presentation skills needed to promote peer coaching and model instructional lessons
