PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To help maintain the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness. To help maintain the physical school plans in the condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED, required
Clear driving record, required
Valid Texas driver’s Class C license, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be familiar with chain-link fencing, metal cover walkway and playground equipment installation
Must be familiar with concrete work
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in related field, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain and care for school grounds as assigned by supervisor.
2. Repair and maintain hardware, locks, hinges and bolts.
3. Perform tasks involving light metal jobs, bleachers and concrete forms.
4. Repair and install chain-link fences.
5. Repair and install metal cover walkways.
6. Assist in recommending supplies and equipment for purchase and assist in maintaining the inventory of assigned district-owned tools, equipment and supplies.
7. Repair and install playground equipment as specified by the manufacturer.
8. Form and pour concrete.
9. Assist with asphalt repairs.
10. Assist with the striping of parking lots.
11. Repair outdoor chairs and benches.
12. Assist in estimating costs of repair projects in terms of labor, material and overhead.
13. Work outside of regular assigned work schedule to include extra-curricular functions and to repair/replace needed facilities that may involve night and/or weekend duty as requested.
14. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
15. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

Shop equipment and tools:
Auger and tools for playground installation, concrete tools, ladder, scaffold, small hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire cutters, etc.), hand saws, power tools (saw, drill, sander, etc.), drills, jacks, lift equipment
Vehicles and related equipment:
Seat belts, shoulder harnesses, safety equipment, radio communication equipment, back support belts, safety glasses

Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $12.86
Midpoint: $15.40
Maximum: $17.94
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience. |
