PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Implement a program of guidance to ensure that the In School Suspension program functions effectively in order to facilitate meeting the program goals. Provide a proactive developmental guidance program to encourage all students to maximize personal growth and development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours, required
Paraprofessional Certification, preferred (required upon employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing;
Keyboard/word-processing, preferred
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in school setting, preferred
Days: 187
Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $12.15
Maximum: $17.35
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Collect and organize all reports dealing with the accounting of students assigned to in school suspension.
2. Provide the appropriate school officials with reports and feedback, on students' attendance and behavior on a daily basis.
3. Enforce school rules specifically in school suspension so that an orderly environment exists in in-school suspension.
4. Participate in training in the areas of conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
5. Assist in clerical duties in relation to correspondence regarding student placement in ISS.
6. Follow up with contacting parents in regards to students in ISS placement.
7. Communicate with teacher regarding students in ISS placement.
8. Collect assignments for students in ISS with assistance from office aides.
9. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
10. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
