Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Ensure that the computer-assisted instructional lab functions effectively in order to facilitate reaching instructional goals established by professional staff, especially language development for recent immigrant English language learners.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required

Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours, required

Paraprofessional Certification, preferred (required upon employment)

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of computer applications and other associated equipment; skills in organization, time management and interpersonal skill; fluent in both English and Spanish

 

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in working with computers, preferred

 

Days:  187

 

Hourly Pay Range (Pay Grade IS-02):

Minimum:   $13.00

Maximum:  $18.28

 

Note:  Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Maintain an instructionally attractive and functional computer setting.

 

2. Assist the teacher in selecting appropriate instructional technology and/or programs for students.

 

3. Assist the teacher in monitoring students to maximize time on task to ensure student success.

 

4. Maintain, generate and issue appropriate computer reports as needed.

 

5. Assist principal or other supervisor in developing the computer schedule.

 

6. Motivate children to excel in computer activities through various student incentive programs.

 

7. Correct or report any hardware/software malfunctions.

 

8. Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies (hardware/software).

 

9. Maintain proper cleanliness, storage and maintenance of hardware and software.

 

10. Assist in supervising students throughout the workday.

 

11. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

 

12. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding

source guidelines.

Computer, copier, adding machine, fax machine, printer and other office machines

Mental Demands:

Work under time restraints to meet deadlines; maintain emotional control under stress

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Prolonged sitting; frequent standing; stooping; bending; kneeling; pushing and pulling’ moderate lifting and carrying; repetitive hand motion, prolonged use of computer.
