MULTIPLE POSITIONS - OPEN UNTIL FILLED

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Commercial Driver's License (CDL), required

Passenger & School Bus Endorsements, required

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work with children, administrators and public

 

Experience:

None

 

Work Days:  187

 

Note:  Starting pay for new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience. 

 

Average salary $18.43 per hour  (Salario promedio $18.43 por hora)

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Operate a school bus on a regular or special education route.

2. Provide safe and efficient transportation for students to and from their respective schools.

3. Perform a daily inspection of their assigned vehicle prior to operation.

4. Be responsible for the safety of children while under supervision.

5. Communicate with schools, the public and the students in such manner as to encourage their cooperation and respect.

6. Turn in all necessary daily reports properly filled out.

7. Drive the bus route exactly as designated and approved by the Texas Education Agency. No changes in routes or bus stops may be made without the specific consent of the Director of Transportation.

8. Identify and report to proper authorities any student involved in disciplinary or vandalism acts while riding the bus.

9. Observe all traffic and safety laws, rules and regulations.

10. Work closely with and cooperate with the Shop Supervisor and his staff.

11. Provide the Director of Transportation with any and all reports and pupil counts as requested.

12. Attend drivers’ meetings and trainings each school each year as scheduled and as needed and requested.

13. Know all emergency procedures. Know what to do in case of an accident.

14. In any emergency on the road or route, call immediately the transportation office at 632-3211.

15. Clock in and out as scheduled.

16. Keep vehicle clean at all times.

17. Observe safety procedures at all times in performing duties.

18. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

19. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
