PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the school nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the Comprehensive School Health Program. To identify, modify or remove barriers which may impeded health and learning in the educational setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma, required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or
Medical Assistant (MA), required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to use personal computer and software
General clerical and file maintenance skills
Current CPR
Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English)
Experience:
Three (3) years’ Health experience in some phase of community health or health care provider’s office, which includes contact with school aged children, required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work under the immediate guidance and supervision of the school nurse in maintaining the CSHP. (Has no responsibility as the sole health program provider and will not be asked to provide health teaching, planning, nor implementing of the school health program).
- Administer medication and treatment according to policy.
- Provide first aid according to protocols.
- Assist with immunization program, identification of deficiencies, referral, follow-up and documentation.
- Fulfill task-oriented roles dealing with record keeping and paperwork in a confidential manner.
- Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding source guidelines.

Computer, scale, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, impedance machine, nebulizer, suction machine, audiometer, Gastrostomy tubes, wheel chairs

Instructional Support Pay Structure: Pay Grade 2
Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $13.85
Midpoint: $16.59
Maximum: $19.33
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined indvidually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
